Do you have a passion for problem-solving and innovation? Want to gain valuable experience while working with real businesses? Then look no further than Pitch It Fridays!
Pitch It Fridays is a 7-week virtual event series where students from across the region come together to tackle real-world business challenges. Each week, a new business will present a unique problem, and student teams will collaborate to brainstorm and develop creative solutions.
Here's what you can expect:
- Collaborative Problem Solving: Work with students from different backgrounds and disciplines to develop innovative solutions.
- Networking Opportunities: Connect with local businesses and entrepreneurs, and build your professional network.
- Practical Experience: Gain valuable experience that you can add to your resume and impress future employers.
- Prize Money: Each week, the winner will receive a $50 prize.
- Support Local Businesses: Connect with key players in the Atlantic Canadian entrepreneurial ecosystem and help them overcome real challenges
Here's how it works:
- A local business will present their challenge to the student participants.
- Students will work in teams or individually to brainstorm and develop solutions.
- Teams/individuals will have 30 seconds to pitch their solutions to the business. The business will then select the winning pitch and award the team a $50 prize.
This week's business:
Otium Weddings & Events offers day of wedding coordination, with a focus on working with fun loving, unique, DIY and budget-conscious couples. Their services include day of coordination, set up and tear down services for your decor, or design assistance based on your unique vision.
Otium Weddings & Events specialize in helping couples who want to take a hands-on approach while ensuring every detail is thoughtfully planned, allowing them to hand off all of their meticulously planned details to us so they can sit back and enjoy their day stress-free. From small, intimate ceremonies to larger celebrations, Otium Weddings & Events is here to make planning stress-free and enjoyable.
This winter, Otium Weddings & Events planned an elopement event for April 2025. They brought in a venue, an officiant, decor partners, musicians, and more to curate the perfect wedding day that they could then sell as a package to three lucky couples who wanted an intimate ceremony with no more than 25 guests and a minimal reception. Though there was some interest, they experienced challenges with bookings before the end of February and thus decided to postpone the event for a later date.
What can Otium Weddings & Events do differently to ensure that this event gets the attention and traction it needs to succeed next time?
