What is the Ignition Program:

The Ignition Program offers post-secondary students a 10-week program that gives access to training, mentorship, resources, ecosystem connections; and honorariums to support personal and business development. Students will be awarded $10 for each session they engage with!

What’s in this session:

Making your passion profitable is rarely linear. In this session, textile artist Elise Campbell shares her experience building a creative career supported by multiple income streams, including teaching, exhibiting, residencies and sales.

Elise will talk candidly about how she approaches pricing, workload and time management as ongoing, evolving challenges - and what she wishes she had known earlier. Students who attend this session will learn about sustainable, real-world approaches to entrepreneurship rather than quick wins. Hearing from a maker who has built her career from the ground up offers practical insights for students exploring how passion, school and income can coexist.

Speaker's Bio:

Elise Campbell is a textile artist, educator and maker working primarily with wool to build soft sculptures that echo the beauty and resilience of the natural world. Her work has been exhibited in institutions across Canada and in London, has been supported by national and provincial grants and has been developed through diverse artistic residencies. Campbell teaches hand-on felt making workshops alongside entrepreneurship sessions, offering a practical approach to creative work.
