Voice from Co-President

“Many students from past years who deserved to have won the national title put us in the position we are in now, so when 22 of our students go to Kazakhstan to represent Enactus Saint Mary’s, it is for every student that was ever a part of the program”.—Gabe Martin, Co-President of Enactus Saint Mary’s

Projects

Founded in 2016, Square Roots, a registered Community Interest Corporation purchases perfectly healthy but cosmetically imperfect produce from local farms and sells it for a 56% discount at community locations across Canada.

Plastarch Packaging is a fully compostable, bioplastic alternative for the restaurant industry, created from a starch base. Currently, Enactus Saint Mary’s is developing the products and testing them for quality and durability in the Saint Mary’s University chemistry department. Plastarch products look and feel just like regular single use plastics, they are firm with some flexibility, and don’t get soggy like a paper straw.

The fun part—the main ingredient in Plastarch products is potato starch.
