WAGE SUBSIDY
OVERVIEW
The RBC Talent Fund is a great way for students to gain entrepreneurial skills and have direct experience in a company’s everyday operations by working at a start-up in the HRM. The RBC Talent Fund wage subsidy helps entrepreneurial led companies based in the HRM area hire SMU students. In partnership with the SMU Co-operative Education Office, the program can help grow your business by adding bright young talent to your team.
RBC Talent Fund Provides:
- A wage subsidy that can cover up to $3,412 per hire, broken down as 50% of the wage, up to $7.50/hour for 13 weeks
- Training and mentoring for participants
- Advice and monitoring throughout the program to ensure placement success
- Assistance with job posting and shortlisting of candidates, if required
Employer Requirements:
- Company must be in its early stage of development and located in HRM
- Provide a 13-week work term of 35 hours per week
- Must provide a minimum wage of $15/hr
- The hire must be a Saint Mary’s University Co-operative Education Student (undergraduate)
- Coverage of MERCs (mandatory employment related costs)
- Complete check in reports and allow for a site visit, if required
- Allocate student’s time for up to two days of paid training
